This article written by a SF chiropractor explains in details the difference between Nonsurgical spinal decompression and traction. Here in our office, we utilize both traction and spinal decompression. First it depends on what is causing your condition, in some cases, patients need both. In corrective care therapy, we use various types of traction to rehabilitate and rebuild the spine into its ideal place.

Spinal decompression on the other hand is used mostly for patients with chronic lower back pain where the nerves and or discs are involved, sciatica, disc herniation and a bulging disc. Most of our patients who are candidates for Spinal Decompression, they have been told they are a surgical candidate and are looking for an alternative way of reducing their pain and getting to the root cause of the problem. Most of these patients will never have to go through surgery!

To find out if you’re a candidate for spinal decompression, call us @ 949-387-1333 for a consultation.

Here is an article on WebMD about specific Chiropractic care and how it helps patients with high blood pressure.

To most people even the topic of this blog is absurd and un-familiar, but it is no surprise that the big Pharmaceutical companies spend 19 billion dollars each year on bribing, gifting and influencing physicians in promoting their medicine.

According to the ‘natural news‘ “The majority of doctors say these gifts don’t influence their prescribing behavior, just like the majority of consumers claim television advertising has no influence on their grocery purchases, either. Studies prove otherwise. Studies prove that drug company gifts to doctors are, indeed, not only effective, but quite a bargain for the drug companies.”

Pharmaceutical companies seem to have no interest in patient care or healing processes of diseases. They are a big business that mostly revolve around making more money. There is no question about drugs and various medication have been saving lives for years, but to bribe physicians into chosing a certain kind of medicine sure interferes with patient care.

What most people don’t realize is that almost always there are alternatives to taking drugs. One should always look into the root cause of the problem, and not just symptom relief. You could be suffering from a headache, because you are dehydrated or because you have tension in the occipital region of your neck; Excedrin will only mask your headache, it will not hydrate you or release muscular tension in your cervico-cranial region.

Chiropractic care is not only a preventative treatment but it can also determine the root cause of a symptom and correct the condition.

Recently read an article about Tiger Woods and his recent diagnosis of Cervical Facet Syndrome. Cervical Facet Syndrome is a condition of the cervical (neck) spine  in which the joints in the back of the spine degenerate and subsequently cause pain. This condition is somewhat difficult to diagnose, because it is often mistaken with a disc herniation as it was with Tiger’s case as well. MRI’s and X-rays can diagnose and differentiate between the two.

Symptoms of Facet Syndrome in the neck area include: neck pain, headaches, tingling and numbness in the hands, achy tension in the upper back, difficulty rotating the head, and lack of range of motion. This condition is not only common in golfers and athletes but also in your regular computer user with poor posture.

One of the best treatment for this condition is chiropractic care but the first step is getting the correct diagnosis. If you’ve been suffering from neck pain, headaches, and or tension in the neck and shoulders and have gotten no results from various types of treatment, give us a call for a complimentary consultation. 949-387-1333

Have you ever noticed some people (maybe yourself, or someone close to you) mostly stand one sided, or they are more comfortable sitting and leaning to one side. If you looked at their posture (or yours in the mirror) you would notice that even if you’re standing straight, you may have a shoulder that is lower on one side vs. the other. You may also notice that your hips don’t line up. Some patients will even tell me that they feel like they have a shorter leg on one side. This is more common than you think; but it can also be the cause of your lower back pain. This can cause lower back pain especially when your job involves a lot of standing or walking. Get your spine checked to see if this is causing your aches and pains.

Two third of Americans are now obese and the rate is going up. Your usual ‘healthy’ bar has some of the most harmful ingredients for your body. A chemistry lab is listed on the ingredients; if you cant read it, don’t eat it. Dr. Andrew Sigel calls High Fructose Corn syrup an obeso-genic drug or processed agent and warns you about this harmful ingredient. Stay away from it.

Chronic low back pain is among the most common patient complaints not just in my office, but nationally. Chronic low back pain can be caused by a variety of reasons. 25 percent of Americans have had a back pain complaint within the past three months and this statistic has been this way for years.

The rate of spinal surgery, injections, medication and other invasive treatments for back pain has been on the rise now for the past few years.

One main reason and cause for lower back pain is obesity. This is more relevant in patients who have a smaller frame naturally (small boned). A small weight gain on a ‘naturally thin’ patient can cause compression of the lower spine and lower back pain. Chiropractic care would be an excellent source of help for you if you’re suffering from lower back pain due to the fact that chiropractors will not only look into the root cause of your lower back pain, but they can help you lose weight, and get your optimal health back.

Most chiropractors practice a holistic approach (wholesome; looking at the whole body, not just where it hurts). Call us for a free consultation if you or someone you know is needlessly suffering from lower back pain 949-387-1333

An article from the Internet Journal of Orthopedic Surgery in 2004 covers the relationship between immune dysfunction and vertebral misalignment.

“Among 120 atopic dermatitis patients who received spinal correction treatments every day, 106 [88%] showed improvement in skin itching and 86 [72%] showed improvement in skin condition. Among 240 atopic dermatitis patients who did not receive spinal correction treatments every day, we could not obtain a sure treatment effect. As a result of the questioning about the diurnal quantity change of adrenal cortex hormone secretion to 1,699 patients, the adrenal cortex function of these patients may be in the decline condition. We obtained over 70% improvement in allergic symptoms”

In simple terms chronic misalignments of the spine (more specifically neck and upper back) cause chronic nerve compression that can significantly effect the immune system function.  Once the immune system is not functioning at it’s best, allergies and other inflamatory diseases are more likely to occur.

Consistent chiropractic care helps with not only neck and back pain, headaches and migraines, it also helps patients with allergies. Chiropractic care helps remove interference with the nervous system and help you achieve overall optimal health.

If you’ve ever been in a car accident even if a minor one, you know what a ‘whiplash’ feels like; neck pain, tingling and numbness in the hands, shoulder pain, mid-back pain, headaches, dizziness, double vision and fatigue are some of the symptoms that a whiplash can bring upon in a minor-severe car accident. This collection of symptoms occur as a result of a soft tissue injury to the neck from stretching and or tearing of muscles, tendons, ligaments, disc or nerve tissue because of the extreme movements that happen during the process of whiplash (usually in a car accident).

There are multiple studies that explain how chiropractic care has been 80-90% effective in cases of minor to severe whiplash. The research compares physical therapy, family practice, and standard emergency care and chiropractic manipulation and management approach seems to be a more favorable choice of treatment. In my opinion, a combination of chiropractic manipulation, exercise rehabilitation therapy, and therapeutic massage is the magic solution to a lot of patients with whiplash. Remember you may or may not have all the symptoms listed (neck pain, tingling and numbness in the hands, shoulder pain, mid-back pain, headaches, dizziness, double vision and fatigue) but that doesn’t mean that your cervical spine (neck) has not been effected by the process of whiplash and that you’re not going to have any symptoms later on down the road.

We help a lot of patients who have been in car accidents or have suffered from neck pain and shoulder pain due to whiplash. If you or someone you know is needlessly suffering from these symptoms, let them know there’s hope! Call us @ 949-387-1333
